The QWR is an intumescent fire collar designed to help maintain fire compartmentation where applicable plastic pipes penetrate fire-rated walls and floors.
How does a Quelfire QWR Fire Collar work?
The QWR collar contains high-performance graphite-based intumescent material within a stainless steel shell.
When exposed to fire, the intumescent material reacts to heat as the plastic pipe softens, creating a char that closes the penetration and helps prevent fire from spreading into the adjoining compartment.
Built-in fixing lugs allow the collar to be mechanically secured to the supporting consturction in accordance with the relevent tested detail.
Quelfire QWR Fire Collar Sizes
The Quelfire QWR range includes collars designed for a variety of outside pipe diameters, including:
25mm, 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, 63mm, 75mm, 82mm, 90mm, 110mm, 125mm, 160mm.
For example, a QWR110/CE is designed to suit a 110mm diameter pipe.
Always select the collar size and installation method according to the relevent tested detail.
Quelfire QWR Fire Rating
The QWR Fire Collar has been tested to BS EN 1366-3 and classified according to EN13501-2.
Specific tested configurations have achieved fire resistance up to EI240.
Fire resistance depends upon the pipe, supporting consturction, installation configuration and other details, so the relevent Quelfire test evidence should always be checked.
